Throughout the long-lasting economic boom until 2007, employment opportunities were good for all groups in the labour market, and unemployment was low. That was true also for unskilled labour. However, since 2007 many people, also among the unskilled, have been increasingly affected by unemployment. The present study examines the unskilled labour market, with particular attention to unemployment among the unskilled and their mobility between industries in connection with periods of unemployment. Among its conclusions are indications that those unskilled persons with lower secondary education exhibit an unemployment pattern that differs from that of those with upper secondary education, and that unemployed unskilled persons who switch industry often have longer intervals of unemployment, which, however, vary according to the industry they move into. The study was carried out for the Eastern Denmark (Copenhagen and Zealand) Employment Region.
