This study deals with young people who have received special-needs teaching at primary/lower secondary school level. The study followed 128 young people from their last year of compulsory education until two to three years after school-leaving age. Questionnaires involved the pupils, their teachers and their parents. Interviews were carried out ongoingly with a selected 30 of the young people, and interview visits were conducted at 12 of the 25 Danish primary/lower secondary schools that took part in the study. It was found that the young people’s post-school education, training and employment were characterised by much instability and numerous interruptions.
