In Denmark there exists a relatively large group of female immigrants who are wholly supported by their families. These women are not registered as unemployed and do not receive any form of public assistance. This investigation focuses on the obstacles they face and their chances of getting a job and obtaining an education. Emphasis is placed on action at the municipal level, as local authorities have, since 2004, had better equipped to reach this group. Research shows that these women’s own qualifications are a strength but also a challenge in their encounter with the Danish labour market. This factor and much else must be taken into consideration by local authorities in their efforts to reach this group of women.
