In Denmark, households pay higher energy taxes than industrial customers. The economic literature points to the fact that favouring industrial customers generates economic expenses. Akf has used a calculation model showing that levelling the energy taxes before the introduction of EU’s CO2 quota market would give the Danes a total profit of about DKK 8 billion. On the other hand, this would cause an increase in CO2 emissions in neighbouring countries.
