There are significant differences among local authorities in Denmark when it comes to how successful they are at integrating immigrants, who are covered by the Danish Integration Act, into the labour market. This is reflected by an indicator for integration success based on the length of time from when immigrants receive Danish residency until they find employment or begin a course of study. The indicator takes into account the fact that the immigrant populations covered by the Danish Integration Act have different characteristics in different local authorities and that the general conditions in the local authorities – including local labour market conditions – differ. The indicator can be used as a point of departure for further analysis of differences in the integration efforts at the municipal level.
