Organisation

AKF is an independent research institute established and partly financed by the Local Government Foundation for Education and Research (Det Kommunale Momsfond).

The members of AKF's Board of Governors are appointed by the Local Government Foundation for Education and Research after recommendation from a series of institutions and the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

AKF's research is organised in two groups, each covering some overall topics.

Education, employment and integration

The group researches into the field of education, employment and integration, including:

  • employment (withdrawal, activation and marginalisation)
  • integration of ethnic minorities
  • children, school and youth education
  • competence development and supplementary education
  • industrial location and industrial development  

Health, environment and social initiatives

The group researches into citizens' well-being and the conditions of life in a broader sense, including:

  • prevention of sickness, rehabilitation and care
  • elderly people's well-being and needs
  • conditions of life, social initiatives and vulnerable groups
  • citizens' lifestyle, including choice of dwelling, settlement and commuting
  • citizens' consumption and public administration of environment, nature and culture.
