Structural reform of local authorities

AKF's research into the Danish structural reform looks into the organisation, managerial and democratic amalgamation processes at both the municipal and regional level. 

Furthermore, we analyse a series of areas where the structural reform involves new conditions, e.g.:

• The interaction between the primary and secondary health sector
• The new challenges for the municipalities in the disability area
• The employment efforts - new incentives and interpersonal forms
• Social work in the field of employment
• The practice of the municipalities regarding the Planning Act

Municipal amalgamations on the island of Bornholm

On Bornholm a voluntary municipal amalgamation took place in 2003. AKF has followed the development in the new municipality.

The formation of Region Mid-Jutland

Of the five regions which are established within the structural reform AKF follows the formation of one of them, namely Region Mid-Jutland. Furthermore, we carry out comparative studies of the process of formation of the other regions.
