Environmental regulation
AKF's research into environmental regulation is primarily aimed at the regulatory authorities, but is also relevant to other researchers.
Regulation should protect the environment
Regulation is necessary in order to solve the environmental problems we face today. Among other things, regulations are necessary in order to secure the economic growth for future generations. AKF primarily researches into economically appropriate regulation, which is to say that the regulation should generate the largest possible yield to society.
Taxes and quotas
Today, individual quotas are used in a lot of places to solve the environmental problems. It is recommended that the quotas are transferable or that taxes are used. This ensures that those for whom it is cheapest to clean will clean. AKF's research within environmental regulation deals with for instance advantages and disadvantages of transferable quotas. Traditional recommendations regarding taxes and transferable quotas require that the regulating authority has all the necessary information which is unrealistic. AKF's research looks into how to get to realistic political recommendations for regulation even if you do not have all the necessary information.
