The integration of foreigners in Denmark
It is a particularly large challenge to get foreigners from less developed countries integrated into the labour market, educational system and housing market. Considering that the number of foreigners will increase heavily during the coming decades it is important to focus especially on this group, among other things because well-integrated foreigners could take part in solving the problem with the increasing amount of state benefits which emerges on the horizon. If, on the other hand, the foreigners are not integrated this will make the problem even bigger. During the last decades foreigners have become more concentrated in certain housing areas. The background for and the consequences of the concentration are crucial research and political questions. It is also a question whether there is a connection between the residential concentration and the integration into the labour market and the educational system.
