Questionnaire studies
AKF uses and develops questionnaire studies in all research fields when it is relevant in relation to concrete analyses, e.g.:-
Citizens' and users' opinion of the municipal services
-
Young people's opinion of education
-
The Danes' cultural and leisure-time activities
-
Employees' and management's valuation of the municipal organisation, management and competence
-
Social work and work environment
When AKF uses questionnaire studies it is based on a concrete valuation of the suitability of the method in order to gather structured information from selected respondents. The respondents could be asked in their capacity of many different roles, e.g. as a citizen, user, employee, manager or representative of organisations or institutions.
Questionnaire studies via letter or the internet
The questionnaire might be suitable in small surveys with a few hundred respondents as well as in large surveys with several thousand respondents. AKF has experience in managing and carrying out surveys in all shapes and forms, like posted and internet-based questionnaires, questionnaires used when visiting the respondents and telephone interviews.
Advantages and disadvantages of questionnaire studies
Using questionnaires is an effective way to reach many respondents with structured questions which usually have fixed, delimited and comparable answers. If the questionnaire is used with insight and care you can create a solid data basis which can be analysed by the help of statistical methods and e.g. controlled for the extent of representativity. The disadvantage of a questionnaire is that it is not possible to include new questions, and the structured categories of replies might reduce the diversity of the answers.
Satisfactory response rates
It is a decisive condition for successful questionnaire surveys that the response rate is high. Usually, AKF’s questionnaire surveys have good and satisfactory response rates which provide a basis for reliable analyses with power of penetration.
