Labour market

In the field of labour market AKF deals with e.g.:

  • employment and unemployment
  • withdrawal from the labour market

AKF's research into this area is mainly aimed at decision-makers in municipalities and ministries, but is of course also interesting for researchers within this field.

Challenges on the labour market
A well functioning labour market is essential so as to solve the problems Denmark is going to have in the form of demographic development and globilisation. AKF's research deals with whether the public resources are used in an appropriate way when it comes to solving these problems and how we in the best possible way can ensure a large and flexible labour force.

How can we increase the labour force?

Among other things, the labour force could be increase by increasing the age of withdrawal and by getting marginalised groups into the labour market. However, it is not clear how this objective could be realised. It requires knowledge of the behaviour patterns of the groups. AKF's research aims at uncovering behaviour patterns and identifying optimal efforts.

Keeping people on the labour market

As regards people on the labour market the aim is to ensure their ability to keep up to date and to continue to be part of the labour force. This could for instance be ensure with the help of good and effective case work, in-service training and an active labour-market policy which are all action areas in AKF's research.
