Fields of research

AKF researches into subjects within public service, the main emphasis being on the welfare tasks which municipalities and regions deal with. AKF's research includes design, implementation, organisation and evaluation of public policy and practice.

The aim of AKF's research is that it should contribute to improving governmental, regional and municipal activities.

Basically, AKF's research focuses on:

how to improve the citizens' lives as much as possible and how to secure the best possible conditions and offers,
how to secure a positive regional development in urban as well as in rural districts,
how to prioritise society's "soft values" in areas where the market forces do not function all right, e.g. within the areas of health, education, culture and the environment,
how to organise and delimit the public sector so that it functions efficiently, adapts to the development of society and reflects the citizens' preferences.
